Briley and I had the amazing opportunity to go by the Relatives yesterday and meet with some of the staff and check out the house. I cant even begin to explain to anyone how outstanding of team they have and how very fortunate we are to have this type of organization in our community. Their mission is so clear in everything they do, and is truly inspiring. The Relatives helped 300 kids last year!! They don’t just give these kids a safe place to stay for 14 days (their average is around 5-8 days) they have resources for these children, and not only do they help these children but they just recently started another program called On Ramp where they help  young people from the ages of 16-24 transition into adulthood. It doesn’t stop there, they also have a 24 hour crisis hotline, so if a child just needs to talk, they are there! There are so many ways we can help The Relatives bring awareness, a lot of children don’t even know they have this type of resource and thats what we need your help with. As a community we need to be more aware of what we offer our youth in all different types of situations and as well as our adults, The Relatives offers free monthly parenting classes.

Did you know..There are over 2100 HOMELESS CHILDREN in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools…? Well there are and I think that is unacceptable..HOW can YOU help? EDUCATION. So the Junior Chamber is having a Back to School Stuff-A-Thon on Aug. 17th 6-9PM at Buckhead Saloon. PLEASE bring or send some supplies for these kids, they deserve the help!!

We had the pleasure of working with the buyers and sellers on this deal and couldn’t be happier for the both of them. Buyers and Sellers can both be represented in a deal by one agent,(dual agency) which Briley has had a lot of successful experiences with, we were so pleased to have had the chance to work with both of you guys on this deal! This was also the first closing that started our “Pay it Forward” program, the buyers chose the Relatives as their organization of choice to donate too and the sellers chose the KIPP School. We are so excited about starting the “Pay it Forward” program.

FAMILY ADDITION RESCUE MISSION: Family Addition Dog Rescue of Charlotte is a small group of like minded individuals who dedicate their homes and their hearts to providing refuge to the many abandoned, abused and neglected dogs of our community. We believe a dog is a member of the family and we require 100% committed owners for our adoptions. Each dog is fully vetted, altered, fed high quality nutrition and started on monthly heartworm preventative. A foster home is provided to fully assess the behavior and placement needs of each individual dog. Permanent homes are carefully screened to ensure the dog is matched correctly. Public awareness of our overpopulation problem is another focus of Family Addition. At our all of our adoption events we ensure each citizen is educated on the plight of homeless animals in our area and the proper care of any companion animal. With re-homing shelter dogs and educating the public we strive to make a difference in our community.

What an amazing organization…let’s help them save more dogs!!

Briley Burris and Associates decided to get some of our friends together and join a summer kickball league. We’ve definitely enjoyed playing every week and we are doing really good!! We are currently in 3rd place and are going to play off’s next week…we will keep you posted on how we do! Wish us luck…

The Relatives

The Relatives is a co-ed, 9 bed emergency shelter for runaway, homeless and other youth in crisis from ages 7-17. Their main concern is providing these children with a safe place while helping them work through their issues that led them to seek help. They also operate a 24-hour CRISIS HOTLINE for youth and families that need help, but don’t know where else to turn. They also hold free parenting classes once a month that is based on the love and logic parenting model. “The Love and Logic model is a 30-year-old philosophy of raising and teaching children which allows adults to be happier, empowered, and more skilled in the interactions with children. Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences of their choices. Love and Logic is a way of working with children that puts parents and teachers back in control, teaches children to be responsible, and prepares young people to live in the real world, with its many choices and consequences.”

Staying at The Relatives is limited to 14 days but free of charge for these children, and they don’t just send these children back on the streets they try to help them solve their issues and involve the families if need be as well. They truly care about the wellbeing of the children and want to help them in anyway they can…let’s help this truly amazing organization!!!

Carolina Tarwheels

The Carolina Tarwheels is a local program for disabled persons to become involved and compete in adaptive sports. There two major goals are getting out awareness to the community about adaptive sports and getting disable people involved in sports. They also work with school and church programs to set up educational presentations to discuss disabilities and how they can come about, how life is changed because of the disability and how to cope with becoming disabled.

How the donated money is spent to help this organization:

Competitive Travel-Entry fees for tournaments, cost for fuel to travel to the tournaments, tags and insurance for the team van and trailer

Home Conference Games-Gym rental, referree cost, NWBA conference dues (one time fee for each at the begining of the season)

Supplies and Equipment-Tires, tubes, spokes and handrims

Wheelchair sports are known to be rough/collision sport and that causes players to bust tubes, break spokes and crack hand-rims, and tires wear out- with the amount of games played a set of tires don’t last all season, some of the people play multiple sports and softball wears the tires out even faster.

What an amazing organization….keep up the good work guys, were so glad you could be a part of this with us.

Another great day for Briley Burris and Associates as we helped these wonderful sellers sell, yet another home. They are truly an amazing family and have just loved working with them every time. We hope to help them again in the future.

Another successful closing for Briley Burris and Associates

The team was out having a nice dinner last night. We spotted a baby bird in the middle of the road and decided that we needed to save it. We were a little scared at first that Petrey would not make it through the night, but we are so excited to report that Petrey could not be more alive! He is eating and hanging out at his new home and we are so thrilled. We at Briley Burris and Associates can find anyone a home, call us today!!!!
